A bold mosaic of snow-capped Mauna Kea volcano, a Polynesian canoe, and the Hawaiian
constellation Maui’s Fishhook greets visitors entering the ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center of
Hawai‘i. Designed by local artist Clay Young, the beautiful mosaic has become a symbol of
‘Imiloa Center, a place celebrating Hawaiian culture and Mauna Kea astronomy. More than
60 local artists are featured in the ‘Imiloa Museum Store, along with books on astronomy and
Hawaiian culture plus other unique gifts. ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawai‘i is located five
